How to Make a Mushroom Quiche
It’s easy to make mushroom quiche with this easy recipe.
There are two main types of mushrooms: white button and portobello. Either can be used in this recipe. White buttons are easier to find but portobellos are better because they have a darker color and a meatier flavor.
You’ll also need a 9 inch pie plate. You can use any crust for this recipe but I prefer using gluten free flour.
STEP 1: Heat Oven and Preheat the Broiler
Preheat the oven to 425 degrees Fahrenheit.
STEP 2: Cut the Mushrooms
Using a knife, cut off the bottom and top from the mushroom caps. Remove the stems. Slice the mushrooms into large pieces so they cook evenly.
STEP 3: Cook the Mushrooms
Place the sliced mushrooms in a baking dish and cover with aluminum foil. Place in the oven and cook for 15 minutes. Once the mushrooms begin to release water, remove the foil and continue cooking for another 10 minutes.
STEP 4: Drain the Mushrooms
After the mushrooms are cooked, carefully drain excess liquid from the baking dish. Don’t let any liquid soak through the foil. Place the mushrooms in an 8 inch pie plate and set aside.
STEP 5: Prepare the Crust
In a small bowl, mix together the gluten-free flour and salt. Add the milk and oil and combine with a fork.
STEP 6: Pour the Dough Into the Pie Plate
Pour the dough mixture over the mushrooms in the pie plate and gently fold the dough over the mushrooms. Fold the edges of the dough towards the center.
STEP 7: Bake the Quiche
Bake the quiche for 20 minutes. Reduce the heat to 350 degrees Fahrenheit and bake for another 40 minutes. The quiche is ready once the filling starts bubbling.
STEP 8: Cool the Quiche Allow the quiche to cool completely before serving. This helps the crust stay crispy
